Fun Facts About the Orlando City Lions

Want to sell your Orlando Home? Get a free home value report | Want to buy an Orlando Home? Search all homes for sale

In case you didn’t know, Orlando has a new MLS soccer team, the Orlando City Lions. They’re doing great this year and in light of that fact, we want to share a few fun facts about the team and its inception.

The club’s founding president, Phil Rawlins, started the process of bringing an MLS soccer team to Orlando all the way back in 2010. His goal was to establish a regular attendance of 15,000 people, which is why the hashtag “#mission15k” was born in 2013. On October 16, 2014, the groundbreaking was done for the team’s stadium, which is now located on the west side of town along Church Street.

This stadium is absolutely beautiful, and on March 8, 2015, we filled it to a capacity of 62,510 purple-clad fans cheering on the Lions. We’re proud to say that no city money was used to build the ...

What Makes Orlando a Great Place to Live?

Want to sell your Orlando Home? Get a FREE home value report | Want to buy an Orlando Home? Search all homes for sale

Today I want to take a minute and go over some of the things that make Orlando a great and fun city to live in.

Of course, Orlando is known for Disney World. Orlando is one of the theme park capitals of the world, and Disney has multiple parks here: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and more. Other notable theme parks include Universal Orlando Resort, Seaworld, and LEGOLAND.

If you would rather spend the day outdoors, boaters and fishers can explore thousands of lakes and rivers. The East Coast is just a short drive away, and if you head west, you will find the Gulf of Mexico.

There are also 150 local golf courses, so there is plenty of golf to be had by all!

There is something for everyone in Orlando!

If you are more interested in walking and hiking, there are more than 60 miles of trails to explore in Orlando alone. You can hike, b ...

Winter Park, a highly sought after community, is as beautiful as it is unique. Located just three miles north of Orlando in Orange County, the city of Winter Park is known for its Old World charm, elegant homes, quaint brick streets, extensive shopping and dining experiences, world-class museums, and highly rated schools. Today, we're here to show you some of our favorite destinations here in Winter Park.

One of these is the farmer's market, which is open every Saturday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. Another great place to start your Saturday morning is Dinky Dock. If you like paddleboarding, come on down!

Also, be sure to check out the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour. It's an 18 passenger pontoon boat that takes you through the Winter Park Lakes. You'll see opulent homes, the Rollins college campus, and beautiful g ...

Around Town: Our Favorite Places in Orlando

Want to sell your Orlando Home? Get a FREE home value report | Want to buy an Orlando Home? Search all homes for sale

Today, we'll discuss a couple of really great local spots in the downtown Orlando area.

Our first stop is Lake Eola. This is the landmark location for everything going on downtown. It's a great place to take a walk, or you can bring your dog to the park. There are also a lot of fantastic events every month, including the Wine Walk and farmer's markets.

Maxine's on Shine, located in the heart of Thornton Park, is a great place to end the evening. Maxine's was originally established as a local grocery store back in the 1940's. It's a historical landmark in Thornton Park. Since 2012, Maxine and her husband, Kurt, have been operating a great restaurant that offers live music, fantastic drinks, and a classy, laid-back atmosphere for a dinner experience like no other.

Next up is Hanson's Shoe Repair, one of Orla ...
