Today, we'll discuss a couple of really great local spots in the downtown Orlando area.
Our first stop is Lake Eola. This is the landmark location for everything going on downtown. It's a great place to take a walk, or you can bring your dog to the park. There are also a lot of fantastic events every month, including the Wine Walk and farmer's markets.
Maxine's on Shine, located in the heart of Thornton Park, is a great place to end the evening. Maxine's was originally established as a local grocery store back in the 1940's. It's a historical landmark in Thornton Park. Since 2012, Maxine and her husband, Kurt, have been operating a great restaurant that offers live music, fantastic drinks, and a classy, laid-back atmosphere for a dinner experience like no other.
Next up is Hanson's Shoe Repair, one of Orlando's best-kept secrets - it's actually a speakeasy! Hanson's Shoe Repair opened in 2013, but it's in the oldest building in Orlando. Built in 1883, Mr. Hanson was a cobbler who operated his shop for years. Now this speakeasy features live music and great drinks - as long as you know the password
